I used this week’s sketch challenge from Sudsol (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing Online), to inspire me for this card. I’ve never done a wide card like this before but decided to give it a try. As usual, I used MDS to create my card.
When I started my Big Top Birthday Card, since MDS doesn’t have an option for this size of card, I created a custom-sized card. This one is 8-1/2 x 3-3/4. I used the Big Top Designer Series Paper for the main part of the background. Doesn’t the paper with all of the banners look perfect for this? And since the banners are only at the top of the paper, on the back of the card, I used the lower part of the paper in a punch so that I could move the design around to where I wanted it. I then flipped and mirrored it so that the beams would seem move continuous. At least they will be going in the same direction. Then I took one of the stamps from Under The Big Top Stamp Brush Set and colored it in with the Free Form Brush Layer. The greeting is from the same stamp brush set. I just cropped out the bottom part of it.
As you can see, I like to dress up the inside of my cards, too. For this Big Top Birthday Card, I took the colored stamp from the front and added it to the inside with the greeting. For the top half of the inside, I added the pennants stamps from the Celebrations Digital Kit to make it fit with the outside of the card.
Tell me what you think. Would this Big Top Birthday Card be something your child or grandchild would like? Just leave a comment below to let me know. Next Friday, I will pick a random winner from those who leave comments and send this card to them for their own use.
If you like what you see, pass it on.
