I love simple birthday card ideas, especially since I have a lot of birthday cards to send out each year. And even when you use a simple birthday card ideas, you can always dress it up with embellishments.
I got the sketch for my card from this week’s Sudsol Sketch Challenge. This is a very simple sketch, but I dressed it up by using one of the Delicate Doilies Punches behind the greeting tag. I also added some Taffeta Ribbon across the narrow strip of paper. I even thought of adding some Pearls to the flower centers on the paper from the Afternoon Tea II Digital Kit. But I ended up not doing it after all. The greeting is from
For the inside of the card, as I’ve been doing with all of my cards for a while now, I added two white layers with an edge matting to make my double borders. Then I added the flower stamp, which was part of the Love Birds and Alphabet and Numbers stamp set that was included in the Afternoon Tea II Digital Kit. Because I’m using MDS 2, I was able to color the stamp Not Quite Navy, Pumpkin Pie and Soft Suede to go with the flowers on the front of the card. The left inside section of the card is just like this, but without the greeting. All I have to do is create the page, or section of the card, once. Then I duplicate the page and add the greeting. I’ve really enjoyed dressing up the insides of my cards, too, and not having it be so plain, with just the greeting.
I invite you to create a card using this simple birthday card idea, or card sketch. You can use actual paper and stamps or you can create it digitally. Then why not share the link to it below in the comments. I would love to see how you use this card layout for your card, whether it’s for a birthday or other occasion.
If you like what you see, pass it on.
