Monday Color Challenge 51

It’s time for another Monday Color Challenge. It’s been a few weeks since I posted the last one because there’s been so much going on. But now we are back to doing it, again. The colors for this week’s challenge are Elegant Eggplant, Crumb Cake, Garden Green and Midnight Muse.

Monday Color Challenge 51 Sample

My color challenge sample this week was inspired by a card that I saw on Sudsol that was created by Ingrid Blackburn. I didn’t have the same stamps as she did, but I had one’s that were pretty close to them. I just loved her card so I was glad that I had stamps that could be substituted to give it a similar look.

I made the card with MDS 2. The flower stamp is from Creative Elements. I have two layers of the stamp, one with a drop shadow of 2, 2 and the other with the drop shadow of -2, -2. Those two layers are grouped together. Then on top of that is a Free Form layer with the Whisper White coloring to fill in the stamp background. On top of that is the final layer of the stamp, without any drop shadow. The two layers with the drop shadows give the appearance of it being raised with dimensionals.  Then I added some leaves, using one of the leaf punches from the Blossom Petals Punch. I used this same steps to do the butterfly from Simple Friendship, except the colors that I used were Midnight Muse and Marina Mist. The greeting is from Bring on the Cake.

I love being able to create background paper to match my image tag and being able to do it directly on the page that I’m working on instead of having to create a separate page with the design, save it as a jpg and then use it as a background paper in a punch. With this card, I only needed to crop the stamps with a straight edge, but it’s also possible to crop them with a shape, which can be any of the punches you have installed.

I love all of these new features with MDS 2. These new features make MDS 2 so much better than before. Another of the new features in MDS 2 is to be able to crop punches. Because I was able to crop the Scallop Trim Border Punch, I didn’t have to do anything special to make it appear the size that I wanted. I remember so many times with MDS 1 when I wanted to create a certain look and I had to cover different sections of the punches that I wanted to make shorter with other punches.

Won’t you join us for this week’s Monday Color Challenge? All you have to do is create a card, a scrapbook page or other type of project using these colors. Then you can share the link to the page where you posted it online in the comments box below, or you can share it on my Facebook Page.  I would love to see what you create with these colors.
